Infinity Expeditions - The Spirit On Board

The level of intimacy aboard and the demands of seamanship can be challenging. Progressive team-building is vital. We hold regular “Connect Meetings” using everything from acting to Zen meditation to deepen relations and cultivate personal growth. We prefer decisions based on consensus; however, the ship has guidelines to be complied with, and the captain has the final word when it comes to ship safety. It takes the combined abilities of the entire team to manage the ship and the expedition agenda.

Everyone chooses areas of responsibility, which are agreed upon by the team, and assumes full command of their role. Each position listed below is overseen by a dedicated individual, but the work is accomplished collaboratively.

  • Captain
  • First Mate
  • Engineer - oversees maintenance of everything mechanical
  • Boson - oversees sails, rigging, tools, etc.
  • Small Boat Manager – maintains the 2 dinghies and outboard engines, safety
  • Galley and Food Supply Manager - kitchen maintenance, inventory and meal planning
  • House Manager - oversees everything concerned with maintaining a harmonious atmosphere and living space on the boat
  • Nurse / Medical Consultant - makes sure the medical kit is up-to-date and performs small tasks like appendectomies at sea with a butter knife
  • Digital Media Producer - directing, audio, camera, editing
  • Expedition Leader - voyage and itinerary planning, visa and bureaucratic concerns, resources (ports, provisioning, fueling), contacts in each area for cultural exchange and partner organizations
  • Dive Master - overseeing all things to do with diving - locations, supplies, maintenance
  • Web Master and Editor - web and blog content and maintenance
  • Marketing, Outreach, and Fundraising coordinator - PR work

This list is not exhaustive. At any given moment, we have a variety of individuals on board contributing their many skills, knowledge and talents to our endeavors.
